British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Fatal Road Accident

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on December 29th, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.

Healing from Light Wounds

The sports star had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.

“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.

Remembering the Victims

The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”

His release from the hospital arrives after the boxing community shared condolences for the champion in the wake of the devastating accident.
