Arteta Applauds ‘More Reliable’ Squad and Acknowledges Havertz Setback.

Arsenal's manager feels assured that his squad can continue to cope with injury setbacks following revealing that forward Kai Havertz is not ready for several more weeks.

Extended Absence for Havertz

The Germany international has been absent for months following an operation on his knee. Initially expected to come back at the start of this month, Arteta explained the player hit a snag when stepping up his training and failed to reach “to the next level.”

“We learned, and we were able to put together a group that is much more reliable and has more options,” commented Arteta.

Tactical Decisions for Brentford Clash

This news presents a tactical puzzle for Wednesday’s fixture at the Emirates against Brentford. Arteta must choose between continuing to use Mikel Merino, who found the net as a makeshift striker on Sunday, or reinstating Viktor Gyökeres, who came back from a muscle injury in the latter stages. Long-term absentee Gabriel Jesus remains in contention following a lengthy absence.

Fitness Doubts Persist

Further fitness issues affect defender William Saliba and winger Leandro Trossard, who were absent for the Stamford Bridge game. Therefore, recent arrivals Cristhian Mosquera and Piero Hincapié will probably continue in central defence for the league leaders.

The manager is convinced the £250m spend on new players ahead of this season has left Arsenal in a much stronger position to handle such setbacks.

Squad Depth Vital for Premier League Pursuit

In response if more options was benefiting their league challenge, the manager agreed. “Yes, since the current term has been worse in certain positions, and now the situation with the backline,” he added.

“History has shown us that we have to use players in alternative spots, and they have to be able to adapt to new tasks if we aim to challenge at the top. And the example of Mikel is just the best one.”

Manager’s Sympathy for Suffering Havertz

Addressing the complication previously mentioned by national team coach Julian Nagelsmann, Arteta offered additional context. “He was doing everything. He was unable to progress to the next level and now the signs are like we have unlocked that.”

Arteta expressed his personal desire to welcome him back. “We’re all desperate to have him. Honestly, it’s a player that, personally, I value highly for his contributions to the team, but his personality, his nature. I observe his frustration while sidelined.”

“His fitness history is phenomenal, he’s been always available, and I can’t wait to get him back around the team playing because I feel it’s going to be a massive boost.”
