A individual charged with stalking Kate McCann allegedly recorded her a voicemail message which asked: "suppose I am Madeleine?"

The defendant, 24, who witnesses stated has persistently asserted she was the vanished Madeleine McCann, and Karen Spragg are facing charges charged with stalking Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February this year.

On Monday, Leicester Crown Court heard phone records and data obtained from phones recorded Ms Wandelt persistently requesting Madeleine's mother for a DNA test over that period.

Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - at the age of three during a vacation in Portugal - is among the most covered child disappearance cases and is still open.

'I Do Not Need Money'

One recorded message, shared in court, recorded Ms Wandelt declaring: "I realize I'm heavy and plain like Madeleine had been, but I know what I feel."

While one recording of Ms Wandelt's monologues with Mrs McCann's recording said: "Suppose there is a tiny probability that I am she? Then what? Isn't that significant for you?"

"I am not seeking money, I possess a life here in Poland, I simply desire to discover," the message continued.

The jury was told that by means of emails, SMS messages and calls, Ms Wandelt requested a DNA test, transmitted early photographs to her phone in a attempt to demonstrate a resemblance to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and claimed to have "recollections" from a early life with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, a data specialist with law enforcement who collated the information, informed the court there "showed no any answers" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt also reached out to close associates of the McCanns, according to the phone records.

On 9 October 2024, Mr McCann picked up a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "a wrong number."

During that incident Ms Wandelt deposited a recording on Mrs McCann's answerphone declaring "I will persist and I intend to demonstrate my point."

The court heard the co-defendant established a association online with Ms Wandelt prior to accompanying her on a trip to the McCanns' residence in the county in last December.

Call logs showed Mrs Spragg had contacted using messaging service to Mrs McCann to say the media had portrayed Ms Wandelt as "emotionally disturbed" but that she deserved to be treated respectfully in the period preceding the trip to that location, that area, in that winter.

The court heard message exchanges between the two individuals, in November 2024, discussing endeavoring to obtain Mrs McCann's DNA samples from her garbage or from silverware at a eating establishment.

"We must take action," Mrs Spragg informed Ms Wandelt.

On the occasion of the visit to their home, Mrs Spragg sent a text which expressed: "We are sat near the McCanns' house with our lights out similar to private investigators. I desired to achieve this with Peter Andrew I never thought I would be involved in this with the McCanns."
